Voluntary and community groups across the East Riding are invited to apply for funding as the Do It for East Yorkshire (DIFEY) Community Fund reopens for applications this spring.
The fund has been relaunched by East Riding of Yorkshire Council, in recognition of ongoing cost of living pressures. It will invest £200,000 in new and pilot community-led activity that strengthens local communities and delivers meaningful social impact.
Grants from £1,500 to £5,000 are available to voluntary and community organisations, across the East Riding, as well as for charities and town and parish councils.
The fund will support projects that strengthen social infrastructure, culture and volunteering, improve community spaces and accessibility, enhance safety and perceptions, or deliver environmental and green space improvements.
Example activities that the fund can be used for include creative events or festivals, health and wellbeing initiatives, accessible paths, community safety or the improvement of green spaces.
Projects must be fully completed and financially closed by Sunday 31 January 2027.
Applicants are encouraged to discuss their proposal with the council’s local growth Team before applying, to ensure eligibility and suitability. Initial enquiries should be sent to difey@eastriding.gov.uk.
Applications for funding are now open until Wednesday 30 September 2026, or until all funds are allocated.
Councillor Anne Handley, East Riding of Yorkshire Council leader said “We’re proud to invest in communities across the East Riding, and the DIFEY fund plays a key role in supporting voluntary groups and charities. We highly encourage interested organisations to find out more, and get involved if they can.”
