An East Yorkshire-based project has been awarded the Social and Community Impact Award, by the National Enterprise Network.
The Freedom Providers project helps individuals become micro-businesses and is funded by East Riding of Yorkshire Council, and the UK Shared Prosperity Fund from the UK Government.
The project is delivered by Yorkshire in Business and has supported over 60 micro-providers to provide services to East Riding residents.
Micro-providers are small businesses that provide tailored services in their local community. The Freedom Providers projects empower local people to support their neighbours to live independently.
It also plays a key role in ensuring that people in remote and rural areas, such as parts of the East Riding, can access the services they need.
Since its initial pilot, the project has grown significantly across the East Riding, with over 60 micro-providers now providing services to local residents.
Councillor Anne Handley, East Riding of Yorkshire Council leader said “We’re proud to support businesses of all size in our region, and its great to see the Freedom Provider project recognised for its fantastic work. We encourage interested residents to find out more, and get involved.”
