Funding Update: Tree Planting Grants Available Through The Tree Council 🌳

Community groups, charities, schools, parish councils, and local organisations are being encouraged to explore a range of environmental funding opportunities currently available through The Tree Council.

The Tree Council offers several grant programmes designed to support tree planting, hedgerow creation, orchards, biodiversity projects, and greener community spaces across the UK.

Funding opportunities currently available include:

🌱 Branching Out Fund
Grants between £250 and £2,500 are available for community groups, schools, small charities, and Tree Warden Networks to support tree and hedgerow planting projects across the UK.

🚂 Network Rail Community Tree Planting Fund
Grants between £2,500 and £10,000 are available for projects in England, Scotland, and Wales that demonstrate clear community involvement and public benefit.

🌳 Trees Outside Woodland Fund
Larger grants between £10,000 and £40,000 are available for local authorities and larger registered charities in England to support publicly accessible planting projects.

🌿 National Highways 3 Million Trees Project
Eligible organisations in England can apply for free tree whips to support large-scale planting projects.

The funding aims to support projects that improve biodiversity, increase access to green spaces, help tackle climate challenges, and improve community wellbeing.

Some programmes have limited funding available and may close early due to demand, so organisations are encouraged to review the guidance and apply as soon as possible.

The current Branching Out Fund application deadline is midnight on 19 July 2026.
