First Steps Forward
We are looking to recruit:
- 1 x Family Support Co-ordinator 16 hrs per week remunerated at £11,996 per annum, to be employed by Community VISION and based at 4-6 Robert Street, Scunthorpe. DN15 6NG. This post will be focused on expanding First Steps Forward offer to families living in the rural areas of North Lincolnshire.
- 1 x Family Support Coordinator with a Mental Health Specialism 16 hours per week £11,996 based with North Lincolnshire Mind, Fenton Street, Scunthorpe
- Length of contracts: Fixed Term contract to 30th September 2028.
To work as part of a team of 5 supporting families across North Lincolnshire.

First Steps Forward aims to address the significant risks and barriers to support faced by families with young children under 5 and their siblings living in an environment in which inequality and disadvantage is the norm: – By delivering a bespoke service aimed at meeting the whole needs of the family in achieving a positive, successful and healthy life; supporting the family to aspire to and achieve positive goals, reducing inequalities in early years outcomes and overall achieving positive change. The post holder will:
- Deliver high standards of person centred, positive, asset-based practice in supporting clients and their children
- Ensure inclusion and diversity in all aspects of the work
Coordinator principle Duties will include:
- To build on current and form new partnerships with other agencies and organisations with an interest in the client group in rural areas including Schools, Health and Treatment services, Police Teams, Public Health
- To ensure the implementation of appropriate risk management strategies
- Deliver a volunteer recruitment, training and management programme
- Receiving and assessing referrals and co-designing support packages with families
- Ensuring support to clients is reviewed and evaluated
- Ensuring the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults
Mental Health specialist Coordinator:
In addition to the above this postholder will:
- With the training team at North Lincolnshire Mind provide access to a range of mental health/wellbeing training including Mental Health First Aid, and Mental Health Awareness to staff and volunteers
- Provide support to parents to formulate plans to meet their mental health needs through both group and 1:1 support.
The successful candidates will be have worked in a in a similar support field and have a strong track record of partnership working. You will have an ability to devise activities to support vulnerable people to progress towards achieving their goals and must be able to work using your own initiative, to organise and prioritise workload and meet tight and changing deadlines. You will be able to empathise with disadvantaged families and hold a strong belief in person centred, non-judgemental support as a route out of disadvantage.
