Launch of free cyber security toolkit for small businesses
October is Cyber Security Awareness Month. NCSC supports the global initiative to raise awareness about the importance of cyber resilience. This Cyber Security Awareness Month, we want to introduce you to a new offering from the NCSC which helps to protect your organisation.
New: Cyber Action Toolkit
The Cyber Action Toolkit (CAT) is a free tool from the NCSC, designed to give sole traders and small businesses clear, practical step-by-step actions to improve their cyber security.
It helps you put the foundations in place, track your progress and build stronger protection at your own pace.
What makes the Cyber Action Toolkit different?
We’ve learnt from small businesses that cyber security guidance can feel overwhelming and too technical. The toolkit addresses this need by offering:
- Actionable guidance: Information is broken down into manageable, step-by-step sections.
- Progress tracking: Businesses can track their progress and complete the toolkit in their own time.
- Tailored design: The toolkit has been designed with small businesses, for small businesses.
- Starting point for cyber security: Ideal for those who are unsure where to start, designed to build and help you put in place some of the basic measurements outlined in Cyber Essentials – the government-backed minimum standard.
How does the toolkit connect to Cyber Essentials?
The Cyber Action Toolkit is a strong starting point for getting the basics right. If you want to ensure you are secure against common online threats and don’t have the expertise, a Cyber Advisor can guide you through the additional measures needed to achieve Cyber Essentials – the government-backed certification scheme.
