New funding available for youth initiatives in the East Riding

The Our Place – Youth Fund, part of Do it For East Yorkshire (DIFEY) scheme, funded by East Riding of Yorkshire Council, is welcoming new applications for funding for youth initiatives.

To date, the Our Place – Youth Fund has awarded £85,000 for youth initiatives provided by community groups, charities and youth projects, across 18 projects.

East Riding are now inviting new applications from eligible organisations, to distribute up to £65,000, with grants of between £1,500 and £5,000 per group are available, or up to £10,000 for small capital projects, Applications are open until 12 noon on Monday 5 January.

This fund is designed to support community groups, charities, and youth projects throughout the East Riding, for new or additional activities that benefit young people in the area.

The Youth Fund forms part of the council’s youth agenda, which focuses on children and young people aged 10-19 years, care leavers up to 25 years, and those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

The fund is designed around the five pillars of youth work, which are to be educative, expressive, participative, inclusive, and empowering. These pillars are foundational to youth work and guide how youth workers build relationships, create learning opportunities, and support young people’s development.

Constituted voluntary and community groups, registered charities, not-for-profit companies, community interest companies, youth groups and faith-based organisations are eligible to apply for funding.

The grant can be used for a diverse range of youth projects, and past participants include Beverley Cherry Tree Community Centre, Lund Village Hall, Goole Youth Action, and Fuse Youth service.

Councillor Anne Handley, East Riding of Yorkshire Council leader said, “We’re proud to support communities through our DIFEY programme, including engaging with young people across the East Riding. We highly encourage organisations to find out more about how they can take part.”
