The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) has launched a new £1.5 million Farmer Welfare Grant to support the mental health, wellbeing and resilience of people working within the agricultural industry.
The funding is available to English charities and third-sector not-for-profit organisations, including smaller regional organisations, that can deliver projects supporting farmer health and welfare. Projects can include direct engagement and outreach or information and online services helping farmers access tailored support.
The grant particularly welcomes projects addressing issues such as rural isolation, early intervention, mental health stigma, suicide prevention, business resilience and support for young farmers and farming families. Successful projects will run between November 2026 and March 2029.
