Funding Update: WCIT Charity Grants for IT and Digital Projects

Charities, CICs, educational organisations, and other not-for-profit groups across the UK are being encouraged to apply for funding through the WCIT Charity grant programme.

The fund supports innovative projects that use technology and IT to create positive social impact, improve inclusion, strengthen organisations, and support education and digital understanding. Grants are usually available up to £15,000, with larger grants considered in exceptional circumstances.

The WCIT Charity is particularly interested in projects linked to:

  • Digital inclusion and accessibility
  • Education and skills development
  • Technology for charities and community organisations
  • Artificial intelligence (AI), apps, analytics, and digital innovation
  • Accessibility tools or specialist hardware
  • Improving public understanding of technology

Projects should demonstrate innovation, sustainability, scalability, and clear community benefit. Organisations can also request pro bono IT support alongside funding.

Key Deadline

⏰ The next application deadline is 5pm on Friday 14 August 2026, with decisions expected by the end of September 2026. Applications are reviewed at four committee meetings each year.

Who Can Apply?

Eligible organisations include:

  • Registered charities
  • Community Interest Companies (CICs)
  • Educational establishments
  • Constituted not-for-profit organisations

Projects must primarily benefit UK communities.

Due to high demand, the current success rate is reported to be less than 2%, so organisations are encouraged to carefully review the guidance before applying.
