Get Online Week 2025 👩‍💻

This week is Get Online Week and our colleagues across East Riding of Yorkshire are sharing how we’re supporting residents to get online 👩‍💻

In today’s world, getting online is crucial. It’s shown 👇

🛠️ 90% of jobs are only advertised online – yet polling shows over a quarter of people aren’t confident using the internet to compete for jobs.

🛒 Shopping online can save you an average of £3.29 per purchase – yet one in 10 people aren’t confident managing finances online.

Digital confidence is often at the heart of it. That’s why East Riding of Yorkshire Council have number of initiatives, services and support on offer.

Digital Gifting Scheme

Did you know that approximately 13-19 million people over the age of 16 are experiencing some form of digital poverty – according to the Digital Poverty Alliance.

For millions of people, the first barrier to getting online is gaining access to an appropriate digital device. That’s why for Get Online Week we want to share a few details about our Digital Gifting Scheme.

This is a government funded scheme giving residents access to a FREE smartphone or laptop. Adult Learning offer 5-week courses in which you’ll receive your free device, learn how to use it in the sessions and then take it away with you.

These courses are available in Beverley, Bridlington, Cottingham, Goole and at pop-up opportunities across East Yorkshire.
