Every adult in the UK can now access free, industry-designed AI courses through the government’s AI Skills Hub, as part of a major drive to upskill 10 million workers this decade.
The short online courses – some taking under 20 minutes – help people use AI tools for tasks like drafting text, creating content and managing admin more efficiently. Learners receive a virtual AI Foundations badge aligned to Skills England’s benchmark.
The programme has already delivered one million courses since June and aims to support NHS staff, local government workers and at least 2 million SME employees.
Alongside this, a new AI and the Future of Work Unit has been launched to assess AI’s impact on jobs and ensure the transition supports workers and economic growth.
