The UK Government has launched a new Youth Jobs Grant, offering employers £3,000 for every eligible young person they recruit as part of a major drive to tackle youth unemployment.
The grant is available to businesses that employ 18 to 24-year-olds who have been claiming Universal Credit and looking for work for at least six months. The funding is designed to help employers create new opportunities while supporting young people to gain valuable skills and experience.
The scheme is expected to help up to 60,000 young people into work over the next three years and forms part of the Government’s wider Youth Guarantee, which aims to provide more jobs, training and learning opportunities for young people across the UK. Alongside the grant, almost one million young people will receive enhanced employment support through Jobcentres.
Employers receive the funding in two instalments once employment and earnings have been verified by the Department for Work and Pensions.
