Charities are being invited to apply for funding through the Grocers’ Charity Grants Scheme, which is now open for applications until 1 September 2026.
Established in 1968 by the Grocers’ Company, the Grocers’ Charity provides one-off grants of up to £5,000 to support a wide range of charitable activities across the UK. Funding is awarded at the discretion of trustees and is designed to support practical, impactful projects.
The scheme covers a broad range of themes, including:
- Relief of hardship – such as support for people experiencing homelessness, domestic abuse, or living in areas of high deprivation
- Children and young people – helping build confidence, skills and wellbeing
- Elderly support – tackling loneliness and improving quality of life
- Disability and inclusion – removing barriers and supporting participation
- Health – including equipment purchases, wellbeing support and ethical research
- Military – supporting ex-service personnel and their families
- Arts and heritage – developing creative talent and conserving historic assets
- Environment and conservation – protecting habitats, tackling climate change and promoting sustainability
To be eligible, applicants must be UK registered charities with an annual income below £500,000 (or below £15 million for medical charities).
This funding opportunity is particularly suited to smaller organisations delivering frontline support or community-based projects with clear, tangible outcomes.
