Oil update

An update has been provided by Government for the support in purchasing heating oil. The process has become clearer, but will be varied depending on the local authority area you are in. Please read the information below that applies to your area.

East Riding of Yorkshire

Low income areas at immediate risk of being unable to heat their homes will be prioritised, especially pensioners and those with long-term health conditions. The funding cannot cover the full cost, so applicants are asked to state how much they are willing to pay. There is a section at the end of the form for any additional information. If you do not meet the highest priority criteria but are still interested, you should apply, as any remaining funding will be distributed as fairly as possible.

To access the form: East Riding Crisis Support for Heating Oil

North Lincolnshire

The funding will be allocated formally next month, but residents are being asked to register interests via the form: click here

YCCRP Easter Special Trains

On Saturday 4th April, the Easter Special Trains, in collaboration with TransPennine Express and RNLI, were a success! Volunteers including Sam dressed as the Easter Bunny, helped give out chocolate eggs and activity sheets to children on board.

Many families joined in on the fun, with kids dressed up and entertained during the journey. This year, the event also included stops at Brough, Ferriby, and Hessle for the first time.

The day ended with a rail and water safety event at the station, making it a fun and meaningful experience for everyone.

Shingles vaccine

Free shingles vaccination rates among eligible adults are still below 50%. By October 2025, 42.1% of people aged 65 had received their first dose, compared to 53.5% of those aged 71.

Shingles is a painful condition caused by the reactivation of the chickenpox virus and can lead to long-term nerve damage. The Shingrix Programme, launched in 2023, offers two doses to people aged 65 or 70, as well as the immunosuppressed adults, and is available through GP practises.
