NHS launches winter flu vaccination campaign with new online booking support

The government and NHS have launched a new public awareness campaign encouraging eligible people to receive their flu vaccination ahead of winter.

Announced on 22 October 2026, the campaign includes social media activity and improvements to digital booking services to make vaccination appointments easier to access.

More than 10 million flu vaccinations have already been delivered since the beginning of this year’s programme.

New NHS App features

The NHS App now includes improved functionality to help people check their eligibility for a free flu vaccination and book an appointment at a participating community pharmacy.

The government is promoting the service through social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and TikTok.

The aim is to increase awareness of vaccination opportunities and encourage eligible individuals to book before winter pressures increase.

Who should consider vaccination?

Free NHS flu vaccinations are available to eligible groups, including certain older people, pregnant women, young children and people with specified long-term health conditions.

Eligibility depends on the current NHS vaccination programme, and individuals should check official guidance to establish whether they qualify.

Flu can cause serious illness, particularly among people who are more vulnerable to complications.

Supporting access to vaccination

The NHS is also expanding digital support for school-age vaccination programmes, including improvements to how parents and carers provide consent.

Community organisations can help by sharing accurate information and supporting people who may experience difficulties using online booking services.

People who cannot or do not wish to use the NHS App can seek advice from their GP surgery or a participating pharmacy about available appointments.
