PAPYRUS Prevention of Young Suicide closes as charity enters administration

PAPYRUS Prevention of Young Suicide and HopeLin24/7 has confirmed that it has ceased operating after the charity entered administration, bringing its almost 30 years of work supporting young people, families and professionals to an end.

Joint Administrators Emma Mifsud and Charles Turner of Opus Restructuring & Insolvency were appointed on 7 September 2026. The charity said its trustees and senior management had explored a range of options to secure its future, including reducing costs, changing its operating model and looking at whether services could be transferred to other organisations. However, rising demand, increased costs and a reduction in reliable funding meant the charity could no longer continue.

The closure means HOPELINE247 is no longer operating. This is particularly important for organisations, professionals and individuals who may previously have signposted young people or families to the service. Administrators have said that, where possible, alternative providers will be sought to continue some of PAPYRUS’s other services.

Anyone who needs support, or is concerned about a young person, should now use alternative services. We have brought together some of the options available nationally and locally below.

PAPYRUS administration enquiries are now being handled by Opus Restructuring & Insolvency. Further updates, including information about whether any services can be transferred to alternative providers, will be published as the administration progresses.
