Residents encouraged to have their say on polling station locations

East Riding residents are being encouraged to share their views on the suitability of their local polling station.

The consultation follows a review of East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s electoral arrangements by the Boundary Commission.

As a result. the council is conducting a review of polling districts and polling places. In accordance with Electoral Registration and Administration Act (2013).

The aim of the review is to ensure that polling districts and stations are appropriate and that all electors have reasonable and practicable facilities for voting. It also aims to ensure that, as far as is reasonable and practicable, polling places are accessible to all electors – including those who are disabled.

Councillor Lyn Healing, East Riding of Yorkshire Council Cabinet Member for Communities and Public Protection said: “It is vital that we ensure that polling stations are as accessible as possible, and we highly encourage residents to share their views. It’s important that we identify the most suitable venue for use as polling stations.”
