White Ribbon UK: Voices for Change with Jack Urwin

The White Ribbon UK Team are back with another episode of Voices for Change, this time featuring journalist and author of Man Up: Surviving Modern Masculinity, Jack Urwin.

In conversation with White Ribbon UK CEO, Lynne Elliot, Jack will be speaking candidly about the pressures men face to ‘man up,’ suppress emotion, and conform to outdated ideals of masculinity.

From lad culture to unhealthy masculinity, Jack explores how these expectations impact friendships, marriages, fatherhood, and mental health, all through his down-to-earth approach.

Jack will also discuss how recent cultural shifts including the recent rise of far-right politics, the influence of social media algorithms, and the growing reach of influencer culture, are further shaping harmful ideas of what it means to be a man. Along the way, he’ll be chatting about the all-important question: How can we make change for the better?

Described by The Telegraph as “accessible, funny and interesting” and praised by The Bookseller as “a thought-provoking and timely exploration of modern masculinity,” we’re sure that you won’t want to miss out on this one!

Plus, as a first in the Voices for Change series, we’re opening the audience Q&A throughout the entire conversation, giving you the chance to ask Jack your questions live and be part of the discussion.

Join White Ribbon UK on Tuesday 23rd October, 7-8pm all from the comfort of your sofa, so grab your cuppa and they will see you there!
