East Riding VCFSE Safeguarding Support Services Project Update

Safeguarding remains at the heart of the work carried out by the Voluntary, Community, Faith and Social Enterprise (VCFSE) sector, helping to ensure that children, young people and adults at risk are protected from harm and can access safe, supportive services.

East Riding VCFSE Safeguarding Service Review

The VCFSE sector plays a vital role in supporting individuals, families and communities across the East Riding. To help strengthen safeguarding arrangements, we are encouraging local groups and organisations to take part in the East Riding VCFSE Safeguarding Services Review Survey.

The survey seeks to gather the views and experiences of groups and organisations across the VCFSE sector regarding safeguarding services in the East Riding. It aims to understand how organisations find engaging with safeguarding services, including making referrals and accessing statutory services, identifying what is working well and where improvements could be made.

The findings will help inform future service development, strengthen partnership working, and ensure safeguarding systems and services continue to effectively meet the needs of the VCFSE sector and the communities it serves.

Community VISION Safeguarding Conference

On 16 July, Community VISION welcomed delegates to its annual Safeguarding Conference, held in the beautiful surroundings of the Raywell Centre.

The event was attended by 49 delegates, including representatives from 18 VCFSE organisations, providing an excellent opportunity to learn, share good practice and strengthen partnerships across the sector.

Throughout the day, delegates heard from a range of expert speakers covering important safeguarding topics, including:

• Self-Neglect: Recognising Risk, Strengthening Responses – Hannah Hardy, East Riding Safeguarding Adults Board
• Prevent – Lisa Clappison, Domestic Violence and Abuse Partnership, East Riding of Yorkshire Council
• The Impact of Adult Issues on Children – Chelsee Blundell, East Riding Safeguarding Children Partnership
• Non-Fatal Strangulation – Lisa Clappison, Domestic Violence and Abuse Partnership, East Riding of Yorkshire Council
• Suicide Prevention – Chloe Fisher, PAPYRUS
• Support for Carers – Rachael Barron, East Riding of Yorkshire Council Carers Support Service, and Elaine Agar, Alzheimer’s Society
